Team Niagara hit the road to Ottawa on Tuesday, Jan. 31 to deliver its 2021 Canada Games Bid to the bid evaluation committee – and we took some special guests along with us for the trip.
Niagara’s favourite mascots, including Boomer the Badger, Knightro the Knight and Gabby the Grape, accompanied bid group member Matt Hill on a road trip from Niagara to Ottawa, stopping at several destinations and landmarks along the way.
From a obligatory Tim Horton’s visit to checking out The Big Apple, meeting Niagara Centre MP Vance Badawey and standing on the steps of Parliament Hill, Team Niagara had an eventful trip and successfully delivered Niagara’s bid mid-afternoon on Jan. 31.
Here’s a collection of photos from the trip:
With the bids now in, the Canada Games bid committee will visit each bid community for site visits in the coming months before announcing the final decision for a host community in late-March.
Thanks to all the community members who supported us on social media throughout the trip – we had a ton of engagement and every bit of support helps!
We need you to continue that support and make Niagara’s voice heard by using the hashtag #NiagaraAreYouIn and mentioning @Niagara2021 and @CanadaGames on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
Let’s bring the 2021 Canada Summer Games to Niagara!
